Some Goleta Beach Sand Comes From Goleta Slough

| Streams carry sand into Goleta Slough from the mountains. The sand settles in the slough where the Flood Control people periodically dredge it, here with a drag-line scoop, and dump it into piles where it dries out. Then a front end loader shovels it into dump trucks to haul it to the beach. |
