UCSB Beach - 20 October 2004, 1415 hrs, +5.2 ft high tide. Beach is littered with kelp after first storm of the fall season on previous night. Storm waves cut a 1 m-high berm. High tide line is evident and indicates that waves from this storm did not lap against the beach cliff. The last time they did so with certainty was 18 Feb. 2004. ©Arthur G. Sylvester, 2004
