UCSB Beach Erosion - Before and After the January 2001 Storm

These two images are not of the exact same part of the cliff, but they are close. Note in the November 2000 image the accumulated rock in talus cones at the base of the cliff, as well as the soft, weathered rock on the cliff. All the talus and weathered rock was removed by the January 8-12 storm waves, exposing the gray siltstone bedrock. Even some vegetation that clinged to the cliff in November succumbed to the January storm.
